On my daily commute I realized what sad times we are living in, when I jumped of joy that a liter of petrol was just 1 euro 58 at a new-to-me automated pump. And I only used the word ‘just’ because at the regular big boys along highways, the current prices here in Holland are around 1,69 for the same liter. However, I do remember saying to myself some years ago that “if petrol ever reaches 1,50 a liter, I’ll sell my Porsche!“.
Well it did.

Right. Time for quite a subjective topic. Today, I want to talk about cars that, in my humble opinion, are largely underestimated or unknown for various reasons. It’s all too common for a car to never get rid off its initial reception by journalists and motorists. I wonder why. Why would we care what a journalist in 1984 thought, if we are looking to buy today?

After receiving my pack of HobNobs from RobGT2, I was both delighted and saddened at the same time. Or rather, delighted at first and saddened very shortly after. Delighted, cause the biscuits were positively delicious.

The other day, a fellow Dutch 968 owner posted a link to what he described as “a recent and interesting review of the 968“. I have to admit I was a bit scared the verdict wouldn’t be any good, so I delayed reading it for some time. After having had another blast in my car, I must’ve thought that “surely there can’t be that much negativity in it“, so I decided to dig up the link and read the article. And I liked it. A lot. After poking around on that new-to-me blog for a bit, I decided I really enjoyed most of the articles and the style of the writer really got me wanting to read more. And more. And more.

Note: This post is merely a shameless copy and paste action, from my blog at 968forums.com… The trip to Finland has already happened, so it is time to contemplate the next trip.
So I’ve created a blog. Not my first, not my last I guess. My name is Ton, I’m a 27 year old 968 owner from The Netherlands. My car is a midnight blue ’93 coupe I imported from Japan. It is, however, a left hand drive car. I have been told this is a status symbol in Japan, to have a European car with the steering wheel on the “wrong” (all is relative!) side. Lucky me that wrong is right…
